Geography
The area of the Arab Republic of Egypt is more than 1,000,000 km². Its borders stretch from the Mediterranean in the north, where the Nile meets the sea, to the borders of Sudan , Libya on the west and over the Sinai Peninsula to the borders of Israel and, by sea, Jordan and Saudi Arabia on the east. The Nile (the world's- longest river with its 6,600 km) has created, through tens of thousands of years, a fantastic fertile landscape on its banks where - approximately 95 % of Egypt 's population lives.

Non-Egyptian visitors arriving in Egypt are required to be in possession of a valid passport. Entry visas may be obtained from Egyptian Diplomatic and Consular Missions Abroad. Note: Most travelers obtain their Visa upon entry to Egypt . Visa applications are normally passed out by airlines prior to landing at an Egyptian airport.
Climate
Egypt enjoys an ideally moderate climate, for the sun shines most of the year on average of eight hours daily. Rainy days are few. Although the climate of the desert areas of the country is hot, the Nile valley retains its well-balanced moderate climate throughout the year.
